The Beginning & History[]
Black Ops Tycoon's first version was released on December 24, 2010 (Christmas Eve). Tycoonkittester, one of CoolJohnnyboy's alternate accounts, had the game in his profile. On that day, Tycoonkittester was banned for a day and got the Roblox 'Homestead' badge. There were a few servers open on that day.
The next day was December 25, 2010 (Christmas). When CoolJohnnyboy came on Roblox as another alternate account (TheComet51, which CoolJohnnyboy no longer has access to for forgetting the password), there was nobody on the servers. However, one or two hours later, he came back to find Black Ops Tycoon on the front page, and had achieved over 9,000 visits by the end of the day.
Sometime in late December 2010 or early January 2011, the game was transferred over to the second page. CoolJohnnyboy then decided to improve the game with a better tycoon kit and removed the laggy money makers. VIP was added, as well as new weapons.
The game had many versions, with the new one being the best.
In 2012, Version 6 of Black Ops Tycoon got on front page at least once a month until around July 2012. People still play the game, but the game usually does not exceed 20+ people playing at time.
The game was recently majorly updated.
Versions & Updates[]
The game has had many versions, as said above. Here are some of them:
Version 1: Money maker tycoon. Tycoons were side by side.
Version 2: Income was introduced to the tycoon instead of money makers. Income givers were used in all future versions from this update on. Tycoons were across from each other, but there was a high risk of the tycoon breaking. VIP room was also added in this version.
Version 3: Tycoons were across from each other, with the risk of tycoons breaking decreasing.
Version 4: There was a 'Tycoon Room.' It was a room above the map where others would choose their tycoon in the room and jump/teleport down to find their tycoon. Tycoon Teleport GUI was added so players could get to their base faster and easier.
Version 5: 'Tycoon Room' is moved to below the map instead of above, and tycoons were side-by-side again. A VIP script was added to the game, which gave cash and weapons automatically instead of a VIP room.
Version 6: Addition of teams (Spetsnaz and Black Ops), and the removal of the 'Tycoon Room.' This version was on the front page for 3 days in January 2012. It was also on the second and third page for 1 day in late January or early February 2012. It rose back to fame in March/April 2012, when it was on the front page for 2-3 days, and for 1 day in May or June. The last appearance on the front page was in July 2012.
Version 7: Spetsnaz and Black Ops teams are replaced with the NVA and SOG teams. Server limit is back at 8. Some guns are replaced or updated. The map becomes a rain forest. This increased the amount of players that played the game, but not enough for front page.
Interesting Facts & Information[]
- Many players who played the game said that it was a 9/10 to a 11/10.
- The game has an interesting script that kills a player if they have killed their teammate, and most of the guns, except the explosives/helicopters/tanks DO NOT do damage to your teammates, even when knifing.
- One of CoolJohnnyboy's friends, metallicaman97, also made his version of Black Ops Tycoon, and it was on the front page once or twice. It was after tycoonkittester made his game inactive for a short time. Now, metallicaman97 has changed his version of Black Ops Tycoon to "Cold War Tycoon."
- CoolJohnnyboy/Tycoonkittester did not only have one successful place. He also had Own an Airport Tycoon, a game that was on the front page 3 to 5 times, and Motel Tycoon, which had gotten to the second page once. It was made on another one of his alternate accounts, and is now on CoolJohnnyboy's profile, as well as Own an Airport Tycoon. There was also a WW2 Tycoon, which was on the front page for a day.
- The last old version, Version 5, is stored on CoolJohnnyboy's profile; however, due to recent Roblox updates, it is now inactive.
- The game has 737,000+ visits and 27,000+ favorites as of December 23, 2013.
- The game now uses Roblox's new game gallery update. The Black Ops Tycoon game gallery includes the Black Ops logo with the word "Tycooon" at bottom, and the Spetsnaz and Black Ops team logos.
The Present[]
As stated before, the game was updated to the current version, Version 7. This increased Black Ops Tycoon's popularity, but not anything major.
