Creator Marketplace (2022)

The Creator Store page.

The Creator Store (formerly the Creator Marketplace and previously the Library) is a catalog of game development-related asset items published on the Roblox platform for developers to use. It is different from the Marketplace as asset types that cannot be worn by an avatar belong to the Creator Store, such as decals and models. The Creator Store page is accessed via the Roblox Creator Hub.

The Creator Store has seven public categories: models, plugins, audio, fonts, decals (shown as "images"), mesh parts (shown as "meshes") and videos. All available assets in these categories can be purchased for free except certain plugins which are instead sold for Robux. Certain asset types are UGC, meaning assets of these types can be created or published by users or groups. There are limits on how many assets a user can publish on the Creator Store per 30 days.

The assets purchased or created will be put in one's inventory, which then is accessible through the toolbox. The Creator Store can also be accessed through the toolbox. The toolbox allows inserting object assets (e.g. models/decals) into the data model.

Despite being intended to be used by developers, some places or gears allow input or customization using an asset's ID, such as boomboxes or spray paint.

History[]

Creator Marketplace Layout

The old Creator Store page.

Sometime in late 2018, Roblox removed the ability for users to search for items that are off-sale, due to many assets by developers being stolen by others with no credit.

In December 2019, RoxyBloxyy announced plans for paid plugins. The announcement also revealed plans for many other asset types to become paid access in the future. The paid plugins update was implemented later that same month.

On April 20, 2022, Roblox announced monthly submission limits for the Creator Store that would be in effect on April 21, 2022.[1]

In July 2022, the Creator Store was given a new look. It was made separate from the roblox.com domain, now on the create.roblox.com domain.

On December 12, 2023, Roblox made the library section inaccessible. Clicking a model/decal will redirect to the Creator Hub. Clicking an off-sale item will redirect to an error page.

Submission limits[]

On the Creator Store, users have a limit on how many items they can publish on the store per 30 days. By default, each user can publish up to 10 models, 10 meshes, 10 decals and 2 plugins. ID verification raises these limits to 200 models, 200 meshes, 200 decals and 10 plugins. The limits were added on April 21, 2022, to prevent spam.[1]

Reviews[]

For public assets available on the creator store, there is a tab for reviews. Reviews replaced the now-discontinued comments on the Roblox website. Unlike comments, which allowed any user to comment on the asset. Only users who have used the item in their experience may leave a review; reviews may be negative or positive.
