Super Doomspire is a fighting game created by developer duo Polyhex and blutreefrog . The game is a modern recreation of its classic counterpart, Doomspire Brickbattle.
Gameplay[]
In Super Doomspire, the player and their team must destroy all of the other towers on the map and eliminate the players on the opposing team(s). To accomplish this, players are equipped with an array of weapons and tools, including the Rocket Launcher, the Superball, the Sword, the Bomb, and the Trowel.
Each of these weapons and tools has its purpose, and every weapon has many skins enabling players to customize their loadout to fit their style of combat. Some weapon skins are purely cosmetic, while others have specific advantages and disadvantages in combat. The abilities of these skins are regularly buffed or nerfed, and the creators of the game list the changes made to each weapon on DevForum update posts.
As of June 4, 2021, Super Doomspire has 84 weapon skins and 381 Stickers, which can be purchased with coins obtained at the ends of rounds, from killing other players or destroying enemy spawns, or from chests hidden around the lobby.
The game has many game modes such as Two Teams, Deathmatch, Roundcat Rally, and Infection. Two other gamemodes, Blow Up Stuff and Spawn Capture, can be played on private servers.
Game modes[]
Classic[]
Classic is the classic Doomspire game mode. Four teams try to destroy each other's towers. This gameplay is the most similar to classic Doomspire.
Two Teams[]
Two Teams is identical to the Classic game mode, except for the fact that there are two teams instead of four, and both teams will control 2 Doomspires instead of 1.
Deathmatch[]
In Deathmatch, there are two teams. One team must collectively get 25 total kills using their weapons to win the match, or get the most kills if the timer runs out. Unlike Classic and Two Teams, players do not fight on a map with multiple Doomspires; instead, players duke it out in a customized arena map, with spawns scattered around high-activity areas.
Roundcat Rally[]
In Roundcat Rally, each team has a collection of Roundcats. These Roundcats are shielded by brick walls at first, but the walls can be destroyed with rockets to allow players to eliminate the Roundcats. Players can use their Trowel to rebuild the destroyed walls, or make new walls that provide a greater defensive position. The goal is to knock down all of the enemies' Roundcats. The only weapons available in this mode are the Sword, the Rocket Launcher, and the Trowel.
Infection[]
In Infection, infected players must eliminate survivors, and survivors must survive the zombies' attacks until time runs out.
Infected players take on the appearance of a classic Roblox zombie (brown legs and torso, light green arms and head) with slight color variations. They have a disadvantage due to only having two tools (Sword and Superball, or their corresponding skins), and having 30 HP instead of 100. These disadvantages are overcome by the fact that their team always grows and the fact that they can respawn.
The survivors take on the appearance of a player on the Red Team and spawn in a red Doomspire. They get all the tools they would normally have, but bomb jump power is greatly reduced.
The match is over when all the survivors are infected or the timer runs out.
Spawn Capture (removed/private servers only)[]
In Spawn Capture, rather than destroying the enemies' spawns, a player and their team must work to "capture" the enemy spawns by standing on them. Once all of the enemy's spawns are captured, that team wins the match. This mode used to only be available in Private Servers, but since 2020, the gamemode is now removed, along with Blow Stuff Up.
Blow Stuff Up (removed/private servers only)[]
In Blow Stuff Up, the goal is not to destroy spawns but to destroy parts. There is only one map in this mode. This map has a solid ground, which means no objects nor players can fall into the void. A team wins the match by destroying more parts than the enemy team. This mode used to only be available in Private Servers, but since 2020, the gamemode is now removed, along with Spawn Capture.
Titans (scrapped)[]
In Titans, the player and their team must keep their Titan alive. However, a flood is running through the area, forcing players to seek higher ground. Each Titan has 400 HP. This game mode has been scrapped.
Strategies[]
Offense[]
If one is playing offense (trying to destroy other towers, capturing spawns, etc.) there are many strategies to take advantage of. For example, one can "bomb jump" by placing a bomb under their feet and jumping as it explodes. This sends the player flying. From there, they can spam left-click on their sword to take advantage of lunging, which helps them stay in the air. If one has the flame cutter ability on their sword, using it can still make their air time longer, as the ability stalls their fall.
If one wants to win, they should bomb jump to the bottom of an opponents' base. There, the player can use their rockets and bombs to knock down the walls. Once the walls are knocked down, the whole base will topple and all the spawns will be knocked into the void.
Defense[]
The best way for a player to defend is for them to jump down to the bottom of their base and try to deflect rockets. The bottom is the most vulnerable area of the base, as explained in the "Offense" section. If anyone tries to land on the bottom and blow the walls down, the player can take them out with their sword and rockets.
Combat[]
Combat in Super Doomspire is generally more complicated than combat in the original Doomspire Brickbattle. Here are 3 different potential strategies for 3 different ranges using the starter tools.
Long-range[]
Generally, the best strategy for long-range fighting is to shoot rockets and superballs at the enemy and to deflect/dodge all rockets that come at the player. A player can also build a mini base or a wall using trowels to defend if they do not have an effective cover. Long-range fighting is generally not very common as it is very ineffective. Usually one would use the bomb-jump technique to get within reasonable fighting range.
Medium-range[]
Medium-range fighting generally escalates very quickly into short-range fighting, but here is a strategy for the short time in-between medium and short-range.
In medium-range, one would either want to keep the enemy from getting close if the player is not confident in their short-range skills. For the player to keep the enemy away from them, they should use bombs and rockets aimed in-between them and their enemy. To get the enemy closer, the player can try to shoot a little behind them with bombs and rockets. After that, they should try to approach closer.
If one is confident they can kill the enemy in a medium-range fight, they generally would want to corner their opponent with bombs and trowels and predict their movement with a rocket or a superball. The easiest weapon to hit in medium-range with is a superball.
Short-range[]
Finally, likely the most common range is short range. Short-range fights are filled with action and can be over in seconds if one is not prepared. Most of the time, people will use the explosion of a bomb or a rocket and try to get a quick kill while they are falling. They might also shoot a rocket at the player and dash at them with their sword simultaneously to try and quickly kill the player.
The best option for these strategies is for the player to quickly back up and try to hit the enemy when they are vulnerable. During a short-range fight, the player's best weapon is usually their sword. One would want to get out of their sword range and try to lunge and immediately hit the enemy after that. If one can stay away from the enemy long enough, they can use bombs and rockets to try and hit them if they can predict the enemy's movement. The superball is not a terrible weapon at this range if one can aim well, but is not recommended as compared to explosives and the sword.
Tools[]
Rocket Launcher[]
"Low-impact explosives for long-range kaboom."
The Rocket Launcher is a starter weapon for the rocket launcher category. This is one of the two weapons used for both destroying towers and explosive jumping, the other one being the Bomb.
The rocket launcher's explosive jump is not as effective as with the bomb, but the rocket launcher's bomb jump is easier and faster to do. The Rocket Launcher's damage depends on how close the enemy was to the explosion, causing an instant-kill if one aims well. Rockets sometimes can also ragdoll players or push them away. It is a good weapon for Medium to Long-Range combat.
Note that rockets can be deflected if one is hit by a sword or sword's lunge.
Sword[]
"Chop Chop! Engard! That's what swordfolk says, right?"
The Sword is a starter weapon for the Sword category. The sword's basic attack is a slash that does 25 damage and has slightly less than a half-second cooldown.
The sword's special move is Lunge, an ability that has the player lunge at a high speed forward for a short amount of time. Lunging does 35 damage if it hits. The Lunge is commonly used while in the air to allow the player to travel further than without the lunge. Unlike the original Doomspire Brickbattle, players can use swords to reflect rockets.
Superball[]
"Toss it to knock people over. Hold the fire button down for more throwing speed"
The Superball is a starter weapon for the Superball category. The Superball does 30 damage and most hits will ragdoll players. The Default superball has a cooldown of around two seconds. It is a good weapon for medium distance fights as one can throw them fairly far away.
Players can hold left-click to charge the superball and release the left-click to shoot it. Some superballs have special abilities when charged. Charged superballs also go further and may have greater knockback.
Bomb[]
"Useful for blowing up enemy towers, or jumping high with your own explosions"
The Bomb is a starter weapon for the Bomb category. It is one of the two weapons that allow for explosive jumping and destroying towers, the other being the Rocket Launcher.
The Bomb is better for bomb jumping as it lets the player go higher than with a rocket jump. The default bomb rolls around when one places it: one can fix this issue by buying a bomb that does not roll around (like a square bomb) or by pressing R to plant the bomb.
Note that this weapon is not very useful for direct fighting as it is extremely hard to hit someone with a bomb's explosion.
Trowel[]
"Build a brick wall wherever you fire it. Reinforce your base or protect yourself!"
The Trowel is a starter weapon for the trowel category. When one has the Trowel equipped, click on a surface will build a small wall 2x7x8 studs in size. The Trowel's walls only cost one brick to build (bricks are obtained by destroying parts). Explosions destroy brick walls in one hit.
There are some variants of the trowel that build different things with more brick cost. For example, the Trampoline Trowel makes a trampoline and costs 10 bricks to use.
