Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time was the tenth annual Roblox Egg Hunt event, as well as the final event before the launch of Live-Ops. The Egg Hunt was first announced on the Developer Forum and later during the 6th Annual Bloxys. It took place in 42 games connected to one central hub, which was created by the group Eggtually.[1][2] It was sponsored by Avengers: Endgame, which had both eggs and themed accessories obtainable during the hunt.

Criticism

General

The event's sources of criticism mainly come from the event's lack of creativity, poor map design, poor storyline and the tediousness of retrieving some eggs.

The hub has received many complaints, as some players raised issues that joining the games from it was confusing due to the portals on each ‘floor’, with many instead opting to join games directly from the Games page.

Mobile users have criticized Roblox for including the games Counter Blox, Fantastic Frontier, Grudge, Tales of the Valley and Backpacking in this hunt, due to the fact that these games aren't mobile-supported. This means that their respective eggs are not obtainable by mobile users.

The Evilwick boss fight has received critisicm for being too easy and very buggy. It was considered commonplace for the boss fight itself to break altogether, preventing completion.

Games

This Egg Hunt is compared to Egg Hunt 2015 due to the Egg Hunt being hosted in developer made games and not a singular place. Many said this Egg Hunt was worse than Egg Hunt 2015 due to the high amount of games, seeing it as a 'chore' to go through all the games too. Certain games have been criticized for the method required to obtain their egg, while others have been praised for making their quests easier/more fun.

In particular:

  • The Neighborhood of Robloxia was criticized because the crystal/pillar took too long to spawn, making some players server-hop to find a server that had the crystal. It had also been pointed out how the crystal is about the same color as the pine trees and how it didn't have an exact spawn time and exact spawn location.
  • Hackr was criticized. It was labeled as Mountaineers 2.0 due to its extreme lag, low optimization, and lengthy objective, resulting in very frequent crashes if the player's device is not a high-performance PC and overheating for mobile devices. This, however, was slightly relieved after the developers saved your egg progress if you left the game or crashed.
  • Roblox Point Theme Park was criticized for taking too long and the fact that resetting also reset your progress in the quest. The game is extremely laggy on basic computers and mobile devices as well, even if you lower your graphics all the way down. People have said they crashed many times when attempting to get the egg (Even in the most high-end computers). Those who have bought passes for the game are even worse off, as you permanently lose the passes if you reset/leave/crash. Without passes, this egg takes 40 minutes to get assuming you know how to do it and do not leave/die. However, the crashing can extend the time to get this egg to at least 2 hours or more.
  • Dance Your Blox Off was criticized due to the fact only people in 1st place could win the egg and that rounds were tedious due to the number of times a player would have to wait for each round to end; each round usually lasts approximately 10-15 minutes. People extremely desperate to get the egg would typically tend to rate 1's for everyone, hoping it would increase their chances at winning a round. It usually took 10 minutes if you win the first time, but with 9 players in the server this is heavily unlikely, knowing that at least one player is going to rate 1's for everyone. This increased the time to get the egg to around 2-5 hours. This has required players to use Robux on VIP servers, beg for server contributions, and get friends to vote 5's. This egg was also the 2nd hardest egg to get (excluding the ones in the main game).
  • Epic Minigames was criticized because, before the update where there were 3 winners, only one person could win the egg per round. Due to Epic Minigames’ huge arsenal of games, the Easter Ice Thaw round shows up very rarely, making the egg very tedious to obtain.
  • The Labyrinth was deemed as the most time-consuming game in the event due to the fact that the Yellow (Angelic) shard is obtained by finding a forest in a giant maze full of traps, then shooting the bird. This forest was extremely hard to find, and the maze only opened during the daytime. However, an icon for the forest was eventually added, relieving the difficulty of finding it by pointing out its general direction. Additionally the bird was made to fly lower, making it easier to shoot. The Black shard could be obtained in the Dark Zone, where you had to kill a player. However, not many people were in the Dark Zone, meaning that there would be nobody to kill. There were also players who would camp at the Dark Zone just to kill players who were desperate for the shard, and as a result, players were encouraged to kill an alt for the shard. To top it all off, the maze was different in every server, so following a YouTube tutorial was useless in this case. You also had to go back to the forest after collecting every shard. You also couldn't minimize the game for 20-30 seconds because you would either crash or get kicked for exploiting due to a Script that prevents players from cheating. These difficulties made the Daedelegg the least-obtained egg in the Egg Hunt.
  • Backpacking was criticized because players who did not bear a compass would need to obtain the four fuses blindly across the map. The game was nerfed, and a static noise was added whenever a player was close to a fuse. You didn't need any fuses to jump into the Eggnado to get the egg if someone else spawned the Eggnado. Players had to look for a pink tornado with bunny ears and jump into it. Players could drive towards it or use the glider if they were far from it.
  • Escape Room was criticized due to its intense lag in the new map Enchanted Forest.
  • Freeze Tag was criticized as taggers could revert the progress of the runners who are attempting to construct the egg when they tagged the runner. This caused trying to obtain the egg to be highly time-consuming.
  • Roblox Battle (2018 Edition) was criticized because there were many exploiters and players could not get the fuel in the Concave Calamity map due to other players killing them.
  • SharkBite was criticized because a player needed to destroy his/her boat (Bunny Boat) from a shark attack, but the shark can kill the player in such close range. Players would most often die instead of being able to obtain the egg. Even when the shark broke the egg, there was a chance that the egg would glitch into the shark.
  • Deathrun was criticized because players needed to rely on other players for completing the event's map, which was problematic because it required trusting that the other players are skilled enough and know what to do.
  • Project: Lazer was criticized because of teleportation pads not teleporting the players - however, this was fixed.
  • Zombie Rush was criticized because of how the Tallaheggsee egg could glitch and make the players unable to pick it up.
  • The Iron Man egg was criticized because some of the platforms to get the egg would not spawn, meaning players would have to reset their progress and join a different server.

  • The title for the Egg Hunt was first revealed during the 2019 Bloxy Awards, where a short clip was shown which revealed the title
  • The official Roblox Egg Hunt Teaser originally said "2018" instead of "2019".
  • The placeholder title was 'lobby'.
  • There is a total of 58 eggs in this Egg Hunt (there were 45 in Egg Hunt 2018: The Great Yolktales). Making it the biggest number of any egg hunt ever.

  • There is a text located behind the windmill at 'The Hub'. It says: "Thank you so much for playing Egg Hunt, your support means everything to us. You are the heart and soul of our games and only push us to make better experiences. Realize that the developers who made this game started off as players. Continue the tradition.".
