Egg drops were special events in which eggs would fall from the sky at a place. Each egg is different and has a different way to earn it. This started in April 2008, and ended in May 2019.

Some eggs may become limited items, usually if they were the hardest to find, and typically sell at around 200 Robux to 1,500 Robux. In some rare cases, some eggs may be outrageously expensive, for instance, one of the eggs may sell for around 20,000 Robux. 2007, 2009, and 2011 are the only years so far to not feature egg hunts or drops. It is confirmed that there will be no more egg hunts/egg drops after the 2019 Egg Hunt, Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time and future events will be replaced with Live-Ops.

2008

Only one egg drop occurred in 2008; it was the first in the history of Roblox. Since the eggs were using a Sphere Mesh at the time, the eggs would roll around a lot easier.

2012

Main article: Roblox Easter Egg Hunt 2012

The 2012 Egg Hunt differed greatly from the previous two egg drops. As opposed to being an egg drop like the previous two years, the event became an egg hunt in 2012. This was due to the fact that the Roblox Easter Egg Hunt 2012 was the first to take place in only one game, as opposed to occurring in games scattered throughout ROBLOX. The place was owned by the Games account. The place broke a record of the highest number of players playing one game at one time. The peak reached was 9,354 players. The event lasted for about four days. Exploiting was a common occurrence in the game, as players used it to get more eggs unfairly. Several hats and gear were created in order to assist players in finding eggs at the game.

Hats

  • Egglord's Rexus: Was a buyable, BC only item. When wearing it, it would increase the chance the Egg Cannon 9000's chance of firing a rare egg, and decreased the loading time of the Egg Cannon 9000.

Gear

  • Egg Cannon 9000: Gave the ability to spawn common eggs, but sometimes spawned a rare egg.

2013

Main article: Roblox Easter Egg Hunt 2013

The 2013 Egg Hunt was similar to that of 2012. It lasted from March 26, 2013, to April 5, 2013, which is a total of ten days. Like the previous egg hunt, the 2013 event was located primarily in one game. However, a few eggs were hidden in other games throughout ROBLOX, as well as on the website. Several eggs were retextured for the egg hunt. However, a lot of new eggs were introduced as well. The event shattered multiple records, as the first game to get over 10,000 concurrent players, as well as the first game to get over 1 million place visits in a week.

Like the 2012 map, the map for the 2013 Egg Hunt is an all-terrain map. The map contains a large stone volcano that is adjacent to a green field. There is a large oak tree near the volcano. The volcano erupts about every thirty minutes. A bridge that is connected to a stone tower is attached to the field near the mountain. The mountain overlooks a few cites; one large urban city and two small rural towns. A waterfall divides the urban city from the mountain, and a bridge connects the two. A forest is located on the back of the map. A large, grassy hill connects the urban city to the forest, which is dominated by pine trees.

2014

Main article: Egg Hunt 2014: Save the Eggverse!

The 2014 Roblox Easter Egg Hunt was the third egg hunt to be held in one place, but it also differed from the other two. For the first time, multiple maps were utilized in the game, and all five of them were composed of terrain. The eggs did not hatch this year, which was the first time since 2012 where they did not hatch. This year's egg hunt attracted a lot of criticism due to the changes as well as the plethora of bugs that players encountered over the course of the game. The 2014 Egg Hunt had to be taken offline on multiple occasions to fix glitches.

Gameplay also contained a storyline, a first in the history of the egg hunts. The story focused on Lucky Lapin, a rabbit who collected rare eggs. He was suddenly kidnapped by Rabid Rabbit, who is his evil counterpart from an alternate Eggverse. Rabid Rabbit then stole all the eggs and tried to escape back to his own Eggverse, but his teleporter malfunctioned and scattered all the eggs across the Eggverse. The goal of the game was for the player to find all of the lost eggs, defeat Rabid Rabbit, and save the Eggverse.

Each of the five maps portrayed the same place in different time periods. The first map was in Neolithic Times. It featured two mountains, a river, and a lot of vegetation. The second map was in Medieval Times, and featured the basic layout of the first map, but saw the addition of a town and a bridge. The third map featured a modern city, the fourth map featured a destroyed version of that modern city, and the fifth map was a forsaken future where players had to battle Rabid Rabbit.

2015

Main article: Roblox Easter Egg Hunt 2015

The 2015 Easter Egg Hunt took place in three separate games — Twisted Murderer, Ripull's Minigames, and Super Bomb Survival. The 2015 Easter Egg hunt included 21 Regular Eggs and one special egg: the Admin Egg of Mischief. All of these games had the 2015 Easter Egg Hunt logo on the thumbnails of the game.

2016

Main article: Egg Hunt 2016: Eggcellent Adventure

The 2016 Roblox Easter Egg Hunt was the fourth egg hunt to be held in one place. Unlike being made from a Roblox Dev, this game was made by masterbeyblade21. It had 24 Eggs (26 Eggs existed, you could only get one Nesting Egg). It was in one big map (like 2013) and it had two islands.

2017

Main article: Egg Hunt 2017: The Lost Eggs

The 2017 ROBLOX Easter Egg Hunt is the fifth egg hunt to be held in one place. For the second time, five maps were utilized in the game. Unlike last year, this game was made by a group called Elite Builders of Robloxia, and had a complete storyline; a nefarious villain calling himself Dr. Deville d'Egg has stolen the legendary Faberge Egg. This year's egg hunt included 42 eggs, in which two of them are bonus ones.

2018

Main article: Egg Hunt 2018: The Great Yolktales

The 2018 Egg Hunt started on March 28, 2018. The group that established and developed the game was Fifteam. The Egg Hunt featured 52 eggs in total, while only 46 were obtainable. The game also had seven worlds, being the Ruined Library, Wonderland Grove, Easterbury Canals, Hardboiled City, Ruins of Wookong, The Undernest, and Fractured Space. Each world had a subworld and contained different eggs to be hunted for. This hunt was considered by some to be more of an "Egg Quest" rather than an "Egg Hunt".

2019

Main article: Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time

Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time is the tenth annual Roblox Egg Hunt event. It was first announced on the Developer Forum, later during the 6th Annual Bloxys. The event takes place in 41 different games (40 normal games each having an egg each and 1 hub game with 18 eggs.) There are 58 obtainable eggs.
