The Developer Forum, (better known as DevForum, and formerly known as RBXDev), is a Roblox forum that developers can freely communicate with each other. The Developer Forums can be found here. In order to get into the developer forum, users must actively read topics. Formerly, users had to apply, however as of January 5, 2019 this is no longer the case. Users who are not part of the developer forum can still view posts put in 6 public categories.
History[]
The forum was first introduced on October 18, 2013, with a private post from Shedletsky titled "Hello World".[1] From 2013 to 2015, the forum was powered by Kunena. On October 26, 2015, the forum was migrated to Discourse.
Updated Criteria[]
On January 5, 2019, the criteria for entering the developer forum was updated, allowing users who read and like posts actively to enter the forum. This was followed up by an announcement[2] by Lilly_S, and the application being closed and removed. All applications that were pending when this change occurred were discarded. No information on how many posts need to be read was released.
The updated criteria has been met with serious criticism from the community, mostly due to putting time and effort into getting accepted into the DevForum. Others complain that the change will lower the overall quality of the developer forum.[3][4]

Avatar Flairs[]
On July 9, 2019, the avatar flairs extension was enabled.[5] This added small icons to the profile pictures of Roblox Staff, Roblox Interns, Community Champions, Community Sages, and to the Post Approval team.

The following user groups have officially been deprecated by Roblox staff.
- Community Post Approval - Users who are responsible for managing the post approval process which allows new members to post in categories they do not have access to.
- Lead Top Contributor - Users who lead the Top Contributor program. They receive moderation abiltities.
- Community Champions (formerly Roblox Champions) - Users selected by staff who have been contributing towards the developer community by creating educational content, mentoring developers, etc.

Moderation[]
The Developer Forum employs some forms of moderation specific to the forum board.
Feedback message[]
A DevForum feedback message is sent when a user breaks a minor DevForum rule, such as making an off-topic post. DevForum users receive a message from a Roblox administrator regarding, inappropriate content and the rule broken. Feedback messages are only to let users know that their post was removed on the DevForum and do not count against their account, however, an "unreasonable amount of feedback messages" in a "short period of time" can result in a suspension (called a strike). Users can reply to the feedback message if they have any questions regarding their message, Community Sages may also issue official feedback messages. The system (a bot account) automatically messages forum users if their post is flagged by the community, or removed by staff; however, this is not a feedback message.
Strikes[]
A DevForum strike is issued when a user breaks a DevForum rule that is listed as having 1 strike or more. Offenders are given a message by Roblox administrators regarding their strike and will receive a punishment based on how many strikes they have. A strike is a 1-day forum suspension, 2 strikes are 7-day forum suspension, and 3 strikes is a permanent forum ban.
Strikes expire 3 months after the issue date, however, if a user is struck again, the expiry date for all strikes will reset. Similarly to DevForum feedback messages, a user can (once their suspension has expired) reply to the strike message with any questions. Users can also email devrelations@roblox.com to appeal strikes and forum bans.
Suspension[]
A DevForum suspension is issued when a user violates the rules of Roblox and/or the Developer Forum. These suspensions can, depending on the user's moderation history, range from a day, to a week, to permanent (1,000 years or 1 millennium). Suspensions (called 'Strikes' on the DevForum, relating to having three strikes) are issued when a user has committed a major or repeated violation of the forum rules.
"Login Error" ban[]
The "Login Error" message is shown to users when they try to log in if they have been banned or suspended from the Roblox Developer Forum. This error does not persist once the suspension expires.

- The Roblox Tutorial Series subcategory is the only subcategory that full members do not have posting access in.
- Roblox's January 2018 Studio Branding Guidelines show an unused version of the Devforum logo on page 12.[6]
- As of September 2020, Promotions from the Developer Forum Member rank to the Developer Forum Regular Rank were paused due to the removal of Post Approval, since going through Post Approval several times was a requirement to be promoted to a Regular.
