A glitch is a fault in software that produces an unexpected result, usually from errors in programming/scripting. Like any video game, Roblox has a handful of glitches. While some glitches are harmless, short-lived, and sometimes even entertaining, some can occur for a long time, break functionality, and even harm the software (usually known as bugs).
This article lists only glitches that occur within the Roblox website and software, not within individual Roblox games. This article only lists the fixed glitches. To see the unfixed glitches see "Remaining glitches".

Floating torso[]
A player with the floating torso glitch.
In the Roblox's earliest phases, specifically 2006, players were able to make their torso float to other players perspectives depending on how you lost your body parts. This has been patched since 2007, and is one of Roblox's first glitches.
Avatar animation/Twitch error glitch[]
Around the time animations were added to avatars, when immense lag occurred, your avatar would clip through the ground, this was patched later in 2007. An early Roblox video made by MrDoomBringer showcases this glitch.[1]
No delete button[]
In June 2010, the delete button was removed. If anyone took something from an item, the player could not delete it. They could get as many items as they wanted but still won't show up the button to delete them. Players who have an item before this will show up the delete button. This has been fixed now and players who bought a hat during this issue will now show its delete button.
TBC visual glitch[]
On January 21, 2019, every player with any level of Builders Club had a Turbo Builders Club icon on their profile and in-game. Many users resorted to the unofficial Roblox Discord server and questioned this. An administrator announced that it was just a visual glitch and everyone kept their real membership. The glitch was completely fixed the next day.

Friends glitch or friend request glitch[]
On December 31, 2013, there was a rare glitch on Roblox where users noticed that their friend requests got accepted 3 or 4 times. When they checked their friends list, they noticed that their friend had the same avatar and username. This was then fixed quickly.
Sky death glitch[]
Around 2015 and 2017, there was a glitch where if one were still on ForceField and fell to the bottom of the sky where around the point the player die, they could somehow walk on the bottom, however, when the ForceField dissapears, then they die. This was fixed on late 2017.
Hat giveouts[]
A user named Nikayah created an exploit in which one of the hats, such as the Riddling Skull, was given out to over 1,000 users. Roblox has banned him and was unbanned with another exploit in early 2009. xSCENEx has also done this by giving the Teapot Turret to himself.
No torso glitch[]
This happened on December 15, 2010. This glitch allowed the player's avatar to appear without torso. It didn't cause any problems with Roblox. Their torso would be there if they joined a game. This was fixed and all players were updated back to normal on the 16th. However, there are many "Invisible Torso" scams which reference this glitch.
Gear down glitch[]
This glitch was only up for a few hours before it got patched. This glitch prevented the player's avatar to move its arm in the proper location while holding a gear, and the avatar thumbnail would appear with the player's hand down. However, if an experience's avatar animations are broken or the experience hasn't loaded completely, this glitch can still occur in game today.

Infinite daily Robux glitch[]
The infinite daily Robux glitch was only for Builders Club members. Around 2011, users would change their time on IOS, Android, or PC, the time would be set to a future time like 2021 or 2020, then if the user was lucky enough, they were able to get thousands of Robux without waiting all year, the glitch, however, may not be patched still but players who did the trick were terminated. This glitch can no longer be done as Builders Club has been replaced by Premium.
Double gear[]
The double gear glitch allowed users hold two gears. There were multiple ways to do this, but the most well-known one is for when you select another gear while walking over a dropped gear, the player could hold two gears at once. This was once possible on the main Roblox site as well, it occurred if one did the multiple hat glitch but with gears instead. It occurred with the Trophy of Participation 2016 where if someone were wearing it before it was switched from being a hat accessory to gear while wearing another gear it would appear as if they were wearing two gears on their profile, this is not possible to repeat and once they updated their character after this occurred, it would take off one of the gears.
In-gear glitch[]
On 2015, a gear glitch occurred in the now-closed experience Welcome to Roblox Building, where if the player used the "Add Object" tool and used Cheat Engine and copied the ID in if they reset or dropped the tool they were holding, the gear would appear in the "Add Object" tool. Later, Roblox closed down the game due to this glitch and it was later fixed.
Egg-jump[]
This glitch got patched when removing hats got removed. A player wearing an egg hat could press "=" on their keyboard to remove the hat. Once the egg landed the user was able to jump on the egg and do a "high jump".
Chat bubble[]
When a player chats most of the time, their screen would be white on and off for a couple of seconds due to the chat bubble filling the screen and flashing on and off for a couple of seconds, this happened across most experiences, being very annoying for players that roleplay or chat very often due to this constantly happening.
Camera error[]
In 2017, some users got an error with the camera not following the character in Roblox Studio. It would get stuck in one place and you wouldn't be even able to move your character. This glitch is now fixed, however in some old abandoned games, this glitch is still common, except people can move their character.
Zoomed-out profile camera glitch[]
If one wore some items on the Avatar page, their thumbnail camera could have been ultimately zoomed out, making the character less noticeable.

Back before the character/avatar page was updated, there used to be a method with inspect element of changing the avatar's body colors to ones that did not show up on the body color list such as the color Crimson. It would require filling in the ID and name of the brick color from the official Roblox Wiki/Developer Hub platform. Unfortunately once the character page update was set in this became impossible to do anymore, there are still many users wearing these unavailable body colors on their characters. Avatars with these colors could also not be saved as outfits.
Outfit copycat glitch[]
Between 2016 and 2018, there was a glitch where if you loaded in-game next to a player, there will be a chance you would be wearing the same outfit as the other player. Sometimes the player may wear your outfit. The glitch was common in MeepCity, Get Eaten, lesser-known RPG games, and games with discontinued scripting. This Glitch still happens sometimes, only that it happens to other players when your game hasn't loaded player textures for others yet.
Edge-jumping[]
If a user stands near an edge and then jumps, the player would go flying away from the edge and possibly result in falling into the void and dying. This is due to the in-game physics. It also occurs when you walk into a corner at the right angle. This glitch has been fixed.
February 17, 2016 glitches[]
On February 17, 2016, an unknown bug in the Roblox system made tons of users spawn with no packages, no hats, and no animations, and some had also reported spawning as a noob. This glitch was patched hours later. However, in February 2022, the year in which Roblox had a lot of maintenance, this glitch started occurring for a short time again. It has then once again, been patched since then.
Username glitch[]
On December 6, 2016, a glitch occurred allowing players to use the sign-up page to make an account with the same name as an existing feature, which is not intended to be possible on Roblox. This caused new players with names such as 1dev2, PlatinumFalls, and Roblox to be made. This was shortly fixed, and all accounts with usernames used by earlier accounts were terminated and had their names reset.
Player list glitch[]
In some servers of an experience, the player list list could have either been stretched out on one player's name or not just shown to the players. Because of this, you could not exit the game. A solution to this was that you could've exited out of the game usually pressing ⎇ Alt + ↹ Tab if your keyboard supported it. This bug was only server-side, not client-side. It was patched sometime in 2020.
December 2014 model glitch[]
On December 9, 2014, at 7:15:29 PM, a glitch occurred that automatically updated all Roblox models made between 2006 - 2012 that had over 10k+ sales to be randomly updated. Such examples of models having this glitch are a DIY tool giver.
Lag Clipping[]
When you have a little space between you and the wall and you walk forward and freeze your screen by pressing right-click on the white bar (Only works on Windows OS) and it can let you go through a wall. This glitch works easier on thinner walls.
This glitch being fixed led to some backlash in the obby community, as some obby games had obstacles that required players to execute this glitch.
This had resulted in some obby games being unbeatable, however developers of some obby games (ex: Juke's Towers of Hell) had implemented their own version of the "glitch" to make the obstacles beatable.
Hs4/Noli Username[]
When you try to create an account with the username Hs4 or Noli (not case sensitive), an error message will appear. It is still unknown why Roblox is unable to accept these 2 usernames. This bug eventually lead to some myths. There was once a player called Noli. Hs4 is found to be on the Roblox testing site.
This will happen if you try to create an account with the username Hs4 (Screenshot is in French, please see it carefully).
This will happen if you try to change your username to Hs4.
If a user tries to change their username to hs4 or Noli, the word InternalServerError in red will appear, the username will remain unchanged, and the user will not lose 1000 Robux.
This is due to a full wipe of the accounts, causing the website to bug and says "An error has occurred".
Infinite Death[]
When this glitch occurs, you can't respawn after death. You stay dead, resetting your avatar doesn't work either. Rejoining should fix it. Also you remain as a forcefield.
Captain Rampage: Gold R15 glitch[]
The Captain Rampage: Gold bundle used to not work with R15, it only showed if you're with a R6 character. This was then fixed after a long period.
Un-scrollable Home Screen glitch[]
Note: This glitch only happened on the Windows "Roblox Player" app while in the "Home" section. This didn't happen in the "Discover" section.
At around April 2023, a bug with the scrolling system caused to the user be unable to scroll down while in the home screen. When the player reloads the page, the bar used to determine the position the user is viewing the page is absurdly extended to the bottom. After a few days, this glitch was fixed.
Un-patchable Glitches[]
Chat filter bypass[]
Unfortunately, this glitch will likely never get fully fixed as there are so almost endless ways to bypass it. If the player types profanity in a strange way, such as by replacing letters with numbers, the words could not get filtered.

Character Bouncing[]
Bouncing is a glitch that makes the player bounce off a platform upon landing. This glitch is most common in games with detailed animations and/or is often laggy. Due to this, the bug may never be patched.
Slow walk speed on slow devices[]
When a player moves while their device is lagging, their character moves slower. This is because of Roblox's client-side framerate being under 30 FPS, and the fact that Roblox doesn't use delta-time for client-side character movement. This is likely to happen on mobile devices.
Server player limit glitch[]
This glitch is very old, and usually happens when many players join a game at the same time and Roblox tries to distribute the players to the same server. During this glitch, one server will hold more players than its limit, with the extra player being immediately redirected to a new server.
Flying glitches[]
Variations of this glitch have evolved in multiple different ways. One of the more infamous methods is attaching a cylinder to your body, which caused a collision/physics glitch. After arms and legs had their collision removed in 2007, many other people have found other methods to fly.[2]
Leaderboard function delay[]
After the new leaderboard update, trying to block, friend, or follow users is very delayed compared to the older leaderboard. This glitch may not be fully patched as this has been a problem for years and now it became worse.
Half Error Message[]
Note: This glitch is extremely rare.
If you get kicked from a game due to an error, a bug can occur where you are unable to see a part of the error message, and the skybox isn't blurred. It is unknown whether this glitch has been patched. This can be fixed by entering and exiting full-screen.

Lost connection error[]
Sometimes when you play, you will see everyone around walking or jumping in place, and the screen will show that you're lagging even if your connection is normal. After, you'll get disconnected from the game. The error code that displays when you get disconnected because of this is 277. See Errors for more info. Note that this can also occur if the server crashes.
Passes & Gear Error[]
Sometimes when you try to view the passes when viewing the game, the screen will start to infinite load. This may vary.
"Label" player list bug[]
During late September–October 2023, multiple players reported that when they tried to view the player list in the menu while their experience were loading, display names showed as "Label" for a few seconds before showing the regular display names as the experience fully loaded. It's unknown whether this has been patched yet.
