Fisch is a fishing and exploration experience created by WoozyNate
WoozyNate is a notable creator or influencer verified by Roblox Corporation. Learn more.. It was officially released on October 5, 2024[1][2] and quickly gained widespread popularity on Roblox.[3][4] Fisch was originally published by WoozyNate himself, but transferred to the Fisching group on November 4, 2024 after its acquisition.
Gameplay[]
Players can begin fishing by equipping their fishing rod and standing near water. The bobber can be cast by holding down left-click and then releasing. 'Shake' buttons will appear on the screen, which can be optionally clicked to speed up the catching process. Once a fish bites, a minigame starts in which the player must hold or release left-click to keep the bar inside the moving white rectangle. As the bar stays inside, a progress bar fills up. Once the progress bar is full, the fish is successfully caught.
Every caught fish is cataloged in the player's Bestiary. Fish can otherwise be sold to merchants for C$ - the main currency, which can be used to buy items such as fishing rods, bait, and boats. Every fish has a range of possible weights and a small chance of having a mutation, which increases their value and alters their appearance. Players can use boats to explore other islands and discover new fish.
Development[]
WoozyNate's initial decision to develop a fishing game began after he noticed a lack of engagement from playing existing fishing games on Roblox,[5] and was also 'sick of the rinse and repeat, grindy fishing and simulator-like games'.[6] He aimed to create a 'simple and calm' approach, mostly inspired by Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.[7] WoozyNate also drew aspiration from his native region Nova Scotia, known for its rich fishing culture.[5]
The name 'Fisch' was chosen for the game, carrying a dual meaning. It is the German word for 'fish', and also a tribute to WoozyNate's favorite actress Jenna Fischer.[5] In just four months, WoozyNate independently developed Fisch - he handled the scripting, modeling, and building. While he initially did not intend to finish the project, his passion for the concept eventually motivated him to complete it.[5] Fisch was open for early testing, for just one day on August 10, 2024.
The trailer video was released on September 29, 2024 along with the finalized release date (October 5, 2024). The game's backend performance was significantly optimized on October 11, 2024 by Echidenpai.[8] An official wiki was established at fischipedia.org on October 13, 2024. The game experienced two notable spikes of data loss issues on October 6, 2024 and October 20, 2024. Fisch was first curated on Today's Picks on November 4, 2024[9], and promoted on Roblox's official X account on the same day.[10]
On August 29th 2025, WoozyNate announced that The Second Sea is getting removed from the game forever on August 31st when the Continental Drift update releases.[11]
Acquisition[]
On November 2, 2024, Fisch was acquired by Do Big Studios, a development team known for working on popular titles such as Blade Ball and a dusty trip. As a result of the acquisition, Do Big Studios took over the primary development and upkeep of Fisch, with WoozyNate maintaining overall ownership however less involved development-wise. The actual transfer of Fisch into the Fisching group occurred on November 4, 2024.
WoozyNate explained that the decision to partner with Do Big Studios was made due to the unexpected success of Fisch, which led to a much larger player base than he had initially prepared for. Recognizing the need for more resources and developers to manage the growing demands of the game, WoozyNate chose to collaborate with Do Big Studios. He acknowledged this decision would allow him to focus more on college and personal life, as well as developing new solo projects on Roblox in the further future. Below was WoozyNate's official statement on the acquisition:

On July 7, 2025, Do Big Studios stepped down from developing Fisch, however they still maintained a share in the game's ownership. A renewed team of developers and contributors led by animepunk took over responsibility for updating Fisch. Subsequently, some microtransaction features implemented by Do Big Studios were quickly removed from the game.
On August 21, 2025 Do Big Studios left the group and gave ownership back to WoozyNate
