It became popular May 3rd, 2021 after a sudden spike in players caused it to go from 100 to 600 active visitors in a single day, and kept rising over the next week, peaking at 3000. item asylum was heavily inspired by infinite welfare created by Official Team Facepalm, another randomizer fighting game with a much different unique concept, appealing to a different audience.
