Minimum system requirements

The Roblox minimum requirements states the minimum hardware and software needed to play Roblox. This is just to access most of the platform and does not mean that any experience can be played; an experience's performance will depend on the scope of the experience along with the developer's optimization abilities. This section includes minimum requirements for both PC and mobile devices.

Computers

According to a help article, these are the required system hardware and software specifications for computers or laptops running Roblox.

Windows

• A 64-bit version of Windows 7, 8.1, 10, or 11 is required.
• As of the Hyperion update, Windows 7 now requires security update KB4534310 to run.
• Windows 8.1 only supports Desktop Mode. Metro Mode is not supported.

macOS

• Client: macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later.
• Studio: macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later.

Linux

• There is no native support, but it can be played using workarounds. See Roblox on Linux for more information.

Chrome OS

• Version 53 or higher.
• Google Play Store must be enabled.

Hardware

• Processor: Any processor released after 2005 with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz or higher.
  • Some AMD processors have reported compatibility issues.

Graphics card

• Windows: DirectX 10 or higher feature level support (GMA X3500+, GeForce 8 series+, ATI Radeon HD 2000+). Roblox recommends computers no older than five years with dedicated cards, and laptops no later than three years.

• Memory: At least 1 GB of memory on Windows installations.

• Storage: At least 1 GB of free space. The official article states 20 MB, but it is not quite enough.^{⁠[citation needed]}

Mobile devices

According to a help article, these are the minimum device and operating system requirements to play Roblox on mobile devices.

Supported devices

• iOS/iPadOS: iPad Air or later, iPad Mini 2 or later, iPhone 5s or later, iPod touch (6th Generation) or later running iOS 12 or later.
• Android: Any device supporting Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher. Android devices must also support OpenGL ES 3.0.
• Amazon Fire OS: Kindle Fire HDX 7 (3rd Gen), Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (3rd Gen), Fire HDX 8.9 (4th Gen), Fire HD 6 & 7 (4th Gen), Fire HD 8 & 10 (5th Gen), and Fire (5th Gen) except: Amazon Fire HD 2013

Operating systems

• iOS/iPadOS: 64-bit iOS/iPadOS 12 or later
• Android: Android 6.0 or later

Internet bandwidth

Roblox recommends a minimum of 4 Mbit/s of internet connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet for single-use households, and potentially more for larger households.
