Name Snipes is the largest username sniping community on Roblox. Name Snipes was founded in April of 2016 by Reginald. Name Snipes originally served as a storage group for Reginald's alternative accounts. However, as people began to join the group he formed Name Snipes. Name Snipes holds the title for the largest Name Sniping group on Roblox. The current official Name Snipes group is Rare Names Forever. Previous groups owned by Name Snipes are Name Snipes®, Name Snipes Reborn, Name Snipes Resurrected, and Name Snipes Awakening. The original storage group used for Reginald's alternative accounts is lost due to the group being locked by Roblox. Name Snipes is mainly notable for its game known as Name Snipes Generator.

- Kruma: A former group member who purged the Name Snipes Discord server, now often used as a term to reference nuking or destroying. Ex. "A user by the name of Cactus Pot kruma'd on April 9th, 2021 by removing everyone's roles and deleting messages."

Ranks are not ordered from lowest to highest except for Normal, Cool, Great, Incredible, and Legendary Names. Ranks are based off of an account's Username @ and not its Display Name.
- Pending: Users awaiting to be ranked in the group.
- Banned: Users that broke Name Snipes rules or Roblox TOS.
- Phrase Names: Two or more english words formed together to create a phrase. Ex. "MonkeyCool", "TheNiceCow", "MrNiceGuy"
- Leetspeak: Characters that are replaced with similar looking characters. Ex. "C00LB0Y", "N1ceOne", "KingB0b34"
- 6 Letter: Usernames that are 6 letters long (A-Z).
- 5 Character: Usernames that are 5 characters long (A-Z, 0-9, _).
- 5 Letter: Usernames that are 5 letters long (A-Z).
- 4 Character: Usernames that are 4 characters long (A-Z, 0-9, _).

- Semi ID Snipe: ID of the user formulates a numerical pattern, palindrome or is within 10 of a major ID milestone.
- ID Snipe: ID of the user is a million milestone or repeating digits milestone.
- Normal Name: Usernames that are normal and unique. Ex. "Niceman351", "ervuoerghevoeh", "WWWWWWWWWMWWWWMMMWWM"
- Cool Name: Usernames that are cool and do not contain many numbers or length. Ex. "CoolioJulio", "2breakie2", "MikeyMike"
- Great Name: Usernames that are pronounceable 5-7 letter names or uncommon underscore snipes. Ex. "Phaaez", "Junzi", "Roblox_Com"
- Incredible Names: Plural common-ish words or names. Ex. "Sams", "Pips", "Commons" pronounceable 4 letters, 4 digit usernames, and rare underscore snipes such as "Google_Chrome".
- Legendary Names: Non plural common words or names. Ex. "Sam", "Pip", "Common" pronounceable 3 letters, or 3 digit usernames.
- Impossible Names: Usernames that are not creatable on the signup page such as 20+ length or invalid characters (this does not include reset names).
- Notable: Users with the Verified Badge on the Roblox website.

- Ranker: The group staff members who rank and sort the users in pending.

Name Snipes Generator[]
Rare Name Generator
The group houses a game known as Name Snipes Generator, also now known by the title Rare Name Generator. In the game, players can generate a list of usernames which a script in the game checks and assumes that all usernames that have not been taken found can be considered a snipe. Name Snipes Generator was renamed to Rare Name Generator in 2023 to bring more attraction to the game. Most commonly, the script checks for any 5 or 6 character names to keep the username short. There is a challenging obby in-game, where a badge will be awarded if the obby is completed. As of March 11, 2024, it has been visited 1,500,000 times. The developer group for NSG is ns gen dev has the ns gen development game which is no longer in use.
