RB Battles Season 3 was a Roblox event that began on December 3, 2022, ended on January 29, 2023, and resumed briefly on February 4, 2023. It was the third RB Battles event and was sponsored by American multinational retail corporation Walmart. The event featured a "concert" featuring the hosts of RB Battles singing the song The Friends We Made until it was later revealed to a live event introducing the new storyline. The premiere of the main event began on December 5, 2022.
Just like the prior competitions in 2019 and 2020, it was a tournament consisting sixteen popular Roblox YouTubers competing against one another in various experiences. This is also the first event since the event's hiatus from 2021 to October 2022.
The event was progressively announced, starting with a tweet on the RB Battles Twitter account on November 20, 2022, of the RB Battles trophy. The same day the first competitor was announced, TanqR, returning from RB Battles Season 2 and of the aforementioned event. The second competitor was also announced: StarCode_RealKreek

RobloxBattles would continue to announce competitors daily until the release of the event. On November 26, 2022, Roblox officially acknowledged the event posting a fanart and announcing RB Battles Season 3 would begin soon.[1] On December 1, 2022, a teaser was released for the event. The teaser promised the first ever concert for RB Battles, the release date of the main event, and new experience updates. The same day, the prizes for the event were uploaded, and the RB Battles game was made public after being closed for over a year.
Plot[]
At the end of "The Friends We Made" music video, a person with an RB Battles popcorn bucket throws a knife at a screen playing the song. The person then drops his popcorn bucket on the ground, and the video ends. This cutscene hints at the villain of the next season. A secret room within the current RB Battles game had this exact scene, albeit already over.
Somewhere around this time, Jp makes Mr. Boringsworth make an artificial sun and clones of the host, he has no choice but to make it, he was only able to make a clone of Russo and Sabrina, with Russo being successful and the other not. Jp then either does something to him that causes him to make him forget what he was talking about when asked about the subject, and possibly control him at times, or make him keep it a secret.
During the teaser trailer for the event, it is revealed that to make up for their time away, the RB Battles hosts planned a concert with a meet and greet, which came with a new map for the game.
At the concert, the RB Battles hosts were singing the song "The Friends We Made" when suddenly a portal appears, sending in drones and a giant robot with a straw hat. The robot begins destroying the stage, with its drones wrecking the lobby with lasers, causing chaos. The three hosts scurry away in fear for their lives until they reach a small breathing space for them to make a plan with everyone else. Sabrina suggests using the confetti cannons to defeat the robots, grabbing DJ's sorrowful attention. Despite everyone's greatest efforts at defending the lobby according to Sabrina's plan, the robot continues to heal itself every few seconds by banging its drums, thus making it invincible. The hosts decided they had no choice but to board the ship and flee. During a cutscene, it is seen that the map is destroyed and the hosts' instruments go flying while the ship flies away.
It is revealed that it will take two days to get to the "old lobby," and during that time, players can maintain the spaceship by doing tasks.
During the trailer, Mr. Boringsworth from Season 2's final battle appears in front of the upset hosts from the ship to say that whoever or whatever attacked the concert and map is very powerful. He says that the hosts' instruments could be powerful enough to stop them; however, he states that the bits of the instruments went flying into the metaverse. He then says that, when obtaining one of the bits, head over to his laboratory, and he will make one of the instruments from the respective host's bits. He also has enough spare gold from last season to make 10,000 gold versions of each instrument. Russo then excitingly exclaims that they must save the RB Battles universe before telling the viewers to join them because the ship is about to land.
Nearing its destination, the ship becomes uncontrollable and starts losing fuel rapidly, flying in the wrong direction and forcing them to jump off the ship as it crashes.
After they jump, they find themselves in an entirely different lobby for RB Battles and explore it, the players can find each hosts and talk to them, sometimes and game updates and the hosts change area, one time when talking to Russo which either he is mind control or either he is replaced by his clone, he will discourage the player to find the bits saying it's almost impossible, there are also a shop which was made by Mr. Boringsworth which sends you outside the lobby. When people found Russo's bit, they can talk to Mr. Boringsworth, and he says he made the shop and the sun under the lobby, he says he made the outercity shop to find out who made the lobby, but when asked about the sun, he seems to forget what he was talking about midway through. After Russo goes to the back of the shop and says that he doesn't wait to get the bits and just wants to explore the lobby, at the top of the lobby obby, there is text which only can be seen properly with a magnifying glass which Sabrina gives you which says: "Don't trust Russo, trust me.", DJ says that the handwriting is Russo's, and confronts Russo disappears in the last first round match on the 15th of December (Tanqr vs Bandites) which makes Sabrina think DJ has to do something with his disappearance. The one later pulling the strings all along revealed to be Jp.
After an update, Mr. Boringsworth states that the tools he made for the player are not activated and they don't have any power.
After the finale, the players power up the tools and the shrine starts to fuel, but on the 21st of January, a short was posted on the RB Battles YouTube channel, Russo is seen talking to a hood person who is disguised as his boss he explains that he and Mr. Boringsworth tricked the players to think the shrine is fueling, and rigged the subway to not work until the 28th. He then says that this will be the best and hardest final battle, but then the speakers in the base activate and the real boss says that he is late to their meeting and will arrive in 2 minutes. Russo who realized that he was not talking to his boss asks aka The real Jp: "Wait... Who are you?", the fake Jp realizing that their cover is blown, activates the countdown before escaping, Russo tries to stop them but decides to stay in the base for the meeting.
On January 28th, Duncan fixed the charging station so the player can use it to power the subway. After the subway took off, Sabrina gave the player a walkie-talkie and tells them it's Russo's, and they hope to find him in this place. The player hijacks the redirects the subway in the engine room using a keycard to not fall into a pit of acid, then the player and the host separate, with the player arriving to NetPunk's Construction Facility and the hosts at the other subway station, after reaching the end of the base, the player hijacks a turrent to destroy a robot in the way of Sabrina and DJ and goes into what the robot was guarding, it's a tower which is called NetPunk Industries, after climbing up and avoiding enemies, Sabrina and DJ tell the player that they went the wrong way so now they are separated, and they promise they will meet up soon. The player finds the server room and after avoiding security, uses an elevator to go down to NetPunk Factory, after doing puzzles, around when the player is almost done the puzzles, DJ and Sabrina find themselves in the Battle Dome, clicking a red button which makes them do a championship in minigames against bots who have an advantage over them, soon the player finds them and deactivates it. After the DJ and Sabrina trick the player into clicking the button which makes them have to do the championship, they apologize and say that the player is better than them anyways before entering a portal, after emerging victorious, the player enters the same portal. DJ and Sabrina are happy to see them as they are stuck in the place called the Retro Reef, and explain that the backpacks have activated anti-gravity due to the fact they are outside and are trying to find a way out. After the player finds a keycard controlling a robot crab, they escape to a creepy place named Greatness Awaits. In a vent, the player gets chased by the Great Woman, which is a failed clone of Sabrina. After escaping they find themselves back at the Battle Dome scared because they think they are trapped in a loop. But the player uses the keycard they got on a door which works, using the elevator to go up, they find themselves a strange place, but then JP, the person on the TV during the championship appears in a robot. He steals the host lines which makes them mad, he reveals that last season final battle, he could've gotten the hood of champions, but lost because of the host rigging it, even though this is true, the host denies this, causing JP to attack them, starting the final battle. After searching, the player finds an obstacle course with turrets spawning, after reaching the end, the player finds a mech which they use to fight JP, soon JP's robot gets a hold of the player's mech, destroys it, and then escapes, the mech ejects the player and they all follow him through a hole. They find the vehicle which JP is on, and the driver is a clone of Russo. The host are surprised thinking it's the real Russo and try to find out where he was, but JP orders him to just drive, which Russo says he doesn't take orders from him, this surprises JP, as he reveals that he was the one that created Russo, surprising everyone. But after the player destroys the forcefield by using the bombs that were meant to attack them, they fight JP one on one, after the player beats him, JP uses a glider to get away as the host and player fall to The Metaverse expect for the clone, who fall due to not having a powerpack. After a nostalgia ride, the player and hosts get picked up on a ship. The player wakes up to find JParty being the one who saved them. JParty tells the player that everyone is celebrating outside because they saved the universe, outside all the devs, competitors and hosts (including the real Russo) are waiting outside to celebrate your victory, the credits play on 3 screens and the player claims their prize.

Praises & Controversies[]
The event received massive acclaim from the majority of the Roblox community. Users liked the event badges challenge and the hunt for the secret items, an idea similar from season 2. There were also lots of good reception in the event due to the fact that events until RB Battles Season 3 were all sponsored events which were not "enjoyable". However, there were complaints regarding the obtaining of the instruments, bits and the Final Battle.
Russo's Robot Resonator[]
Obtaining the Russo bits and Robot Resonator was considered easy and enjoyable challenging by the majority of players then the others bits and instruments.
However, some users had problems in some steps, but most of those errors were quickly patched.
The reception of obtaining Russo's Robot Resonator is considered positive.
Sabrina’s Cyber Shredder[]
Obtaining the Sabrina bits and Cyber Shredder was considered hard, glitched and broken by most players, and was also considered by users as more frustrating then fun.
The majority of the criticism comes from the game bugs, glitches, lack of testing and more, a good example would be the candy pipes. Some players, although they clicked the right order, the game would not flood the floor and refuse to give the badge for the next step.
Other crashing bugs or problems that have been reported by players and occurred frequently are: The toilet code would be clicked in the right order and would not flood the floor or give the players a badge for the next step, PVP systems in the game would be on with no way to turn it off, causing trolls to kill players trying to get the badge, the Key needed to open the door to obtain the sword key to enter the experience battle would not show up, the candy pipes could be clicked by every single player on the server which caused confusion on players trying to keep going and VIP Servers being paid.
As time went on, the Shopping Wars devs nerfed the candy pipe and toilet codes alongside the secret battle for the item.
The reception of obtaining Sabrina's Cyber Shredder is considered negative, even after the nerfs reception for the quest change almost to no change.
DJ's Dynamic Dasher[]
Obtaining the DJ bit and instrument was considered easy by most players, and was considered by users as enjoyable.
Most of the criticism would come due to do being able to get the item, you would need to get the secret badges from Piggy and Arsenal by some players, However, after some time, the quest was nerfed and the player wouldn't need to obtain those badges to get the item.
The reception of the obtaining of DJ's Dynamic Dasher is considered positive.
Final Battle[]
The Final Battle was going to be released on January 1, 2023. However, some players complained that it would not be fair, due to the fact that a good part of the players would be celebrating the new year with their family and would not have time to be able to play. Then, the official RB Battles Twitter account said the Final Battle would be released on January 14, However that deadline would also be delayed due to the devs finishing testing, bug fixing, and adding an Anti-Cheat. The community accepted the waiting option.
The Final Battle was officially launched on January 28. The Final Battle was praised for being more stable and having fewer bugs and glitches compared with Season's 2 one, and having much-needed checkpoints that would save between sessions upon release unlike Season 2's final battle which forced people to restart no matter where they died. However, there were complaints from many users saying that the Final Battle still had bugs that affected the game in a breaking way. In low-end devices, the game would load but would freeze sometimes as for example, The Server Room lights puzzle was considered difficult due to the lights sometimes glitching and killing players, The Portal puzzle was considered confusing but with time passing it was easier to decode. Also bugs in the last phase of the Final Battle such as the elevator glitching and making the players no-clip and ending on a soft-lock and lava rising when you defeated JP in the last boss fight were present in the launching hours but would be fixed hours later. In mobile devices, many also had considerable difficulties, with some not even being able to join and being considered as impossible.
The Final Battle was praised for the way it was made (being called as a proper example of a finale for events of this caliber), The Final Battle was well received by users and the devs were also praised for managing to fix most bugs in short times and helping keep the game running like planned.
The Final Battle was nerfed after the Hood of Heroes became unobtainable, such as various checkpoints being added for many sections, as opposed to the only two checkpoints that it had originally launched with. The Final Battle soundtrack, puzzles, challenges and the way it was produced and delivered was widely praised and enjoyed by the players.

Like with the Popcorn Bucket in Season 2, it was criticized by many due to the way the codes were given and distributed, with some considered impossible.
Funky Friday challenge[]
Received a significant nerf after the Sonic Prime event started. The obstacle course was made easier as laser blocks were removed, blue platforms no longer disappear, and the 40,000 points requirement for the song was removed. Both events also put Funky Friday at risk of being copyrighted.
Shopping Wars badge[]
Like with obtaining of the Cyber Shredder, the game in-game challenge was considered hard by many due to the bugs and lags alongside the weird gameplay
Tower of Hell badge[]
Was deemed too difficult by players as mutations from the normal game allowed people to make the rounds impossible for other players. Also, the tower consisted of a long obstacle course without checkpoints, sending players back to the start upon death. Lastly, player collisions were initially turned on, causing some to fall when they bumped into other players.
Arsenal badge[]
Received a significant nerf after complaints about the fifty-second time limit. The time limit was increased to 90 seconds, which made it significantly easier for desktop users but remains difficult for mobile users, who are given various disadvantages slowing them down. The secret task was also difficult as it requires a very specific map, and only one player can obtain the badge per round. As such, the task is far more difficult without a private server.
Adopt Me badge[]
Required in-game currency to ride the flying ship up to the castle. However, this is a minor inconvenience as it only costs five dollars to ride the ship.
Overall, the event was mostly praised and liked by the community.
