Criticism[]

Chat features[]

There's a lack of chat features on the Xbox edition of Roblox. In the early days, Roblox didn't have chat, but developers could put chat in their games or let you view chat. Later on, Roblox got a lot stricter about chat and currently doesn't let any developer put any form of chat in their game. This was due to Roblox wanting to be rated for everyone. The only way the player can really talk now is through the Xbox messaging/party features or Roblox's voice chat feature (Separate from Roblox other platforms. This makes it much more difficult to communicate instructions in games with teamwork based games. Roblox stated to eventually add chat features to console in their future and has lifted the original Xbox guidelines.

Missing ban page[]

When the player is trying to load in a Microsoft account linked to a banned Roblox account, the user gets 901 error in the Durango menu. However, in the Universal version, the error is fixed and there is a ban page on console. Xbox users have to contact Roblox support to get their profile unlinked from the Xbox account in order to start playing again, alternatively, create a new Microsoft account.

Missing avatar shop[]

The player could only buy a limited amount of packages in the marketplace but Roblox eventually did add it on January 7, 2021, but before that when it wasn't added, the player couldn't really buy anything but packages and gamepasses/developer products.

Lack of sound effects[]

When Roblox updated the Xbox version menu to use the new PlayStation Roblox menu. The update removed all sound effects and replaced the original soundtrack with an eerie-sounding theme, Additionally, Roblox is breaking their own "Console Development Guidelines" by not having any sound effects on the main menu, more specifically The "Providing Sound Feedback". [4]

In the universal version, new music was added to the latest menu revision.

Laggy Main Menu[]

The newer menu Is much less optimized than the original, leading to fans feeling frustrated.

Clunky Controls[]

When the new menu was added, the controls got better and worse at the same time, when trying to change your safe area, you used to be able to either click three buttons on your controller, with A being to accept the changes, X to reset the changes and B to cancel the changes, now you have to move your d-pad to the right and click A in order to accept the changes, if you do not use the d-pad to move right, you will be hovering on the "cancel" button.

When trying to use your bumpers to switch to for example "Home" to "Connect", it is slower then the old menu, it will take at least 10 seconds in order to move to "Connect", because the Avatar editor tries to load. There are some other buttons that you can even use your bumpers to switch to, like the search button (although that could be accessed by clicking Y), Buy Robux button and the "Other" button. You will have to use the d-pad in order to access those buttons.

Automatically forced to play on Cross Play[]

When the new menu was updated, you are automatically forced to play on Cross Play, even when your Xbox account had cross play off, this is an annoying bug that makes hard to find any Xbox players on Roblox even if you are on an Xbox console.

The PlayStation version fixes this by enabling the cross play option to be toggled without your PSN account settings taking control of the option.

Outdated Game menu[]

While in an experience, the original 2015-2023 Roblox menu is still being used even though PC and Mobile uses the latest revision.
