  • Hi guys and gals! Thundermaker300, Anzu-TLK and I have come up with a couple of things we would like to announce throughout the whole wiki.

    Userboxes

A lot of the current userboxes found at Project:Userboxes are heavily outdated, unused, or prone to promoting pointsgaming. We might add some more later. The infoboxes that are crossed out are the userboxes we plan on removing.

    ROBLOX Wiki Userbox Removal Proposal

If you are using any of those, I recommend removing them from your profile before you have a ton of broken template links. Feedback regarding what userboxes should be kept or removed is appreciated before we unroll our changes.

    Commentary

    Necrobumping/Necroposting

For those who don't know, Necrobumping/Necroposting is the act of commenting on a really old post or a post that has been resolved. We've recently had a lot of issues that required us deleting necrobumped spam comments for things such as "Yes!" or "Thank you!" on posts regarding a user being blocked or a page being deleted, or giving input to help requests and such for things that have clearly already been responded to and managed by the administrators weeks ago.

Check before you post! If it already was replied to by an admin and resolved and/or the post date is old, don't post or respond! Your comment may be deleted, the thread closed, and additional moderation actions taken!

    Closed comment pages

Some pages (Ticket, Community:Quackityishot, etc) have their commentary section closed. If you see three lines near the comment section, that is because commenting on that particular page has been closed. We've disabled comments on these pages due to extreme violation of our policies.

Unnecessary comments, spam, & unrelated commentary

We have also had a recent issue with deleting spammy comments and unrelated content across the wiki. This is a reminder to avoid...

    • Posting "first", "second", etc. in article comments.
    • Randomly posting basic input or "hello" on article comments or as responses to existing comments, especially older comments (falls under necroposting). You don't need to post on everything- and continuous, pointless posting may be mistaken for pointsgaming.
    • Posting editing/maintenance based commentary in the comments of the article it involves, rather than to the user it concerns.
    • Using comments to post unnecessary pictures, such as a moderation note whenever you have been banned. Likewise, posting unneeded stories or "troll" comments, such as a joke scenario where ROBLOX bans you for saying "hi."

    Message wall "rules"

Some users use the message wall greeting (or the message wall itself) to list rules for what content can be posted on their message walls, but we do not enforce any personal message wall rules. In order to be fair to everyone, we only moderate content if it violates our wiki policies.

For users unaware, you can customize the greeting users see when visiting your message wall. The page is titled http://roblox.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall_Greeting:your username. The greeting can be a great place to introduce yourself and mention other ways for players to contact you.

    Mini-modding

Mini modding is the act of users acting as moderators or trying to unnecessarily enforce or report based on made-up or incorrect views of the wiki policies. For instance, a normal user with 50 edits might say "We are not ROBLOX Staff" vs a Roblox Wikia administrator saying "We are not ROBLOX Staff", a user reporting random things to the wiki admins that don't violate rules, etc. We try to keep everything fair for all editors and hold everyone up to the same expectations as listed in our wiki policies. Mini-modding defeats this purpose, even if your intentions are to prevent something from being escalated to the admins.

Reporting rule-breaking content found on the wiki is fine, but ensure it is actually in violation of policy. Do not act like an authority and try to respond or handle issues yourself and remember to go straight to an administrator rather than feeding the troll.

If you managed to read through the entire announcement, here's a Halloween-themed poll to lighten up the mood:

Which wiki admin/mod is the scariest?

    35

    9

    1

    3

    4

The poll was created at 00:09 on October 29, 2017, and so far 52 people voted.

This post is constantly being changed and updated, so please keep a lookout!

    • Also, I'm thinking that we should keep the Ajedi fan userbox and remove the Dronian fan userbox.

Ajedi is a [wiki] staff member and Dronian is not

Nope. I graduate this spring with my degree, and then I'll be eligible to take the licensure exam. The state I plan on applying for my nursing license doesn't send the test results for at least 1-2 months, so I'm expecting to not officially become a nurse until next August (if I pass the exam the first time).

Ok, wish you the best of luck! (P.S, Happy Halloween! :D)

It's spam. Oftentimes it's bringing up an old, irrelevant discussion, when making a new thread/comment would be more suitable, as many things have changed. Especially on blog posts- where you can't remake the topic, and it is highly likely to be irrelevant.

We determined there is a problem with necroposting because it is causing irrelevant discussion and spam to crop up. It is against our policy.
