  • January 2 – Aquaman event ends.
  • January 3 – Action event ends, and the New Avatars icon is also removed from the Events section.
  • January 9 – The 2019 Roblox Security Breach (in which many popular games were made private by web exploiters) occurred.
  • January 11 – An increase in player complaints to developers about their data suddenly being lost occurs, prompting berezaa to bring up the topic of unreliable DataStores on the Developer Forum.[1]
  • January 17 – Powers event begins.
  • January 18 – A post on the Roblox blog is posted regarding the 6th Annual Bloxys event.
  • January 19 - Royale High becomes the fifth game is Roblox history to hit 1 billion visits.
  • January 21 – A glitch occurs in which all users with a Builders Club or Outrageous Builders Club membership had their membership icons changed to TBC. Some of these users received the TBC hard hat for free.[2] The glitch was fixed 5 hours after being discovered.
  • January 22 – Roblox Winter Creator Challenge event ends.
  • January 23 – The group revamp, announced on December 12, 2018, is released for all users. Clans were also announced for removal on the DevForum.[3]
  • January 24 – The Clans feature is officially removed from all groups.[4] Roblox Studio gained two new, useful updates: disabled scripts will now show in black and white,[5] and a new object, ViewportFrame, was released.[6]
  • January 25 – Roblox announces developer signups for the upcoming Pizza Party event in March 2019.[7]
  • January 28 – Compatibility lighting replaces Legacy lighting to further promote Voxel lighting and the Future is Bright project.[8]

February 2019

  • February 1 – Royale High reaches 1B place visits.
  • February 7 – Roblox boldens and changes the sitewide font to the Gotham font family, as well as adding a dark mode setting and the ability for users to favorite bundles.
  • February 8 – Roblox announces the winners of the Rthro Design Contest[9] and publishes the first user-created Rthro bundle, Amory the Undead Necromancer,[10] into the avatar shop.
  • February 10 – Notable YouTuber PewDiePie's account "Pewdie123t32" is banned from Roblox. NestOfDragons stated privately that this ban was due to his redirection to "unsafe and inappropriate sites/channels."[11] However, a popularized YouTuber known as Faave has stated that PewDiePie was banned because his automatically created starter place was botted by a user known as psyduckc.[12] Faave later mentions in his video that PewDiePie was shortly unbanned after the Roblox moderation team realized that his game was not botted by PewDiePie himself.
  • February 12 – The Friends chat suffers a critical bug where no players are allowed to chat.
  • February 13 – An official statement is announced regarding PewDiePie's ban.
  • February 14 – Roblox adds the ability to disable comments on plugins, and updates the plugin page.[13]
  • February 15 – Presidents' Day 2019 begins.
  • February 18 – Presidents' Day 2019 ends.
  • February 19 – Humanoid clothing (such as shirts, pants, and ExplorerImageIndex 40ShirtGraphic) receives Color3 support, allowing for a greater range of avatar customization.[14] It is also revealed that Roblox users have engaged a total of one billion hours monthly.[15]
  • February 23 – At 1:00 AM ET, the 6th Annual Bloxys live stream begins. During the live stream, the Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time event was revealed.
  • February 25 – Private modules are removed, 25 days after the initial removal date.
  • February 26 – Developers can now archive their old games and projects in Roblox Studio.[16]
  • February 28 – The SocialService API is implemented.[17] Roblox Corporation's HQ is also named as one of 2019's "Best Workplaces in the Bay Area" by Fortune.[18][19]

March 2019

  • March 2 – At 7:51 PM (unknown timezone) CST, the avatar page went under maintenance.
  • March 4 – All games are switched to the PGS Physics Solver, replacing the legacy physics solver.[20]
  • March 5 – Roblox's front page experienced a minor bug that caused the Top Rated Games category to not appear properly. It initially was mistaken by many to be a new update but was promptly fixed later that day.[21] Also, the newly-created SocialService API is temporarily disabled due to "an unrelated CoreScript issue."[17]
  • March 7 - Roblox launches a New Api relating to premium features of the website (such as BC Cancellation). It was speculated that this will relate to the rumored membership "Roblox Premium".
  • March 8 – Meepcity reaches 3 billion visits.
  • March 12 – Roblox hits 1 billion users.
  • March 13 – A bug occurs where games cannot be viewed (excluding front page games) and have to be manually searched for, and the badge configuration page is updated.[citation needed]
  • March 14 – A new property is added to ExplorerImageIndex 9Humanoid, which affects the joints of an avatar upon death.[22]
  • March 15 – Roblox initiates a "3 strike" system for developers to prevent copyright infringement on the site.[23][24]

  • March 20 – The ExplorerImageIndex 0MessagingService is released for Roblox Beta members.[26]
  • March 20 - Prison Life reaches 1B visits.
  • March 21 – The Nike Air event begins; the event included 3 new free Rthro Packages.
  • March 22 - A glitch on Roblox found by honda1337 allowed one to get several event items from 2016 and 2017 using Inspect Element. Roblox engineers quickly patched it.
  • March 25 – Avatars can now be imported into Roblox Studio.[27]
  • March 26 - Roblox releases a new Forcefield material.
  • March 27 – The X, Y, and Z axis in Roblox studio is moved to the top right of the studio viewport. Additionally, a square is added indicating Top, Bottom, Right, Left, Front, and Back.
  • March 28 – Roblox goes down, with all features not working with the exception of Studio. This was possibly a DDOS attack.[citation needed] The Toolbox in Roblox Studio is also updated.[28]
  • March 31 - The Premium Features API is mysteriously taken offline.

April 2019

  • April 1 – For April Fools 2019, Roblox announces the Robox, a game console, on the Roblox blog and linked to a 404 page.[29] Also, the Roblox Games page was changed to where "Featured" was put on top, and "Popular" was put near the bottom.

  • April 3 – Roblox Mobile gets a Games page update, with the background turning gray.
  • April 5 –
    • WrestleMania event begins.
    • The Games page was reverted to how it was prior to April 1.
  • April 10 – Roblox Studio gets a new "World" tab in the game settings, which allows users to change the walkspeed, jump power, and many other powers in their games.
  • April 16 – A YouTuber by the name of Nathorix publishes a video to his YouTube channel which shows brief gameplay of the Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time event. This was immediately talked about on Twitter by various Roblox players, and some administrators. Nathorix quickly took the video down after it receiving too much backlash in the community, however an archive can be found [here]. In the video, he briefly explored the game, showing the full hub and lobby areas. He soon explains that he did not hack a testing account, and instead looked at the members list of the Eggtually group (Egg Hunt 2019 development group) and there were many usernames such as "TesterDevice1", so he created an account named TesterDevice63" hoping to get accepted into the group. The next day, he was accepted into the group, giving him access to play a testing version of the Egg Hunt 2019 event.
  • April 18 – The Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time event begins.

May 2019

  • May 1 – Roblox Developers Conference 2019 wave 1 invites are sent out.
  • May 3 –
    • Roblox's Twitter account reaches 1 million followers.
    • The first time Sign-up Bonus for all forms of Builders Club is removed.
    • The WrestleMania event ends.
    • It was announced on the Developer Forum that new game sorts for the Games page would be coming, as well as encouraging developers to suggest different types of sorts for games.[30]
  • May ? (possibly 1-4) – BC only items are made accessible to NBC users.
  • May 4 – Adopt Me reaches 1 billion visits.
  • May 6 – Roblox Developers Conference 2019 wave 2 invites are sent out.
  • May 7 – Roblox Studio no longer demands focus when opening a new studio window.
  • May 10 – Phase 2 of the Future is Bright lighting is released with "Technology.ShadowMap". [31]
  • May 13 – Roblox Developers Conference 2019 wave 3 invites are sent out. And also, Egg Hunt 2019: Scrambled in Time event ends.
  • May 14 – The "Events" label is removed from the sidebar.
  • May 14 – Roblox deprecates & breaks an endpoint in their Inventory API which allowed users to view ownership of assets. Using the Version 1 endpoint would result in all owners appearing as "null" (meaning private/deleted inventory). 
  • May 15 – Catalog has changed to organize hats, animations, bundles, and faces. 
  • May 16 – Roblox Developer Events (Live-Ops) has been launched.
  • May 16 – N/A tag is updated to be more darker and show an image sign.
  • May 17 –
    • An error happens right before 7:30 PM CST. Players are unable to join games and those who were already in games saw all the GUIs break, all players being taken off any leaderboard teams, and players being unable to chat.
    • Roblox deactivates the /me chat feature by default on the platform[32] and Roblox experiences a site-wide bug where players were charged for purchasing a developer product or a game pass despite being told they were not charged. They were also not given the product they had purchased.[33] It was fixed later that day.
  • May 22 - 24 – Roblox does a sweep cleaning on the catalog, by removing all gamecard involved limiteds that have "Get this item when you redeem a ROBLOX card from (store) in (month).". On May 22, Roblox also responds to developer feedback about the Developer Exchange.[34]
  • May 24 – Memorial Day Sale starts.
  • May 27 – Memorial Day Sale ends. 

June 2019

  • Mid 2019 – Roblox removes off-site advertisements.
  • June 1 – Roblox deprecates outlines.[35]
  • June 2 – Roblox uploads the Froggo Flaps Hat to the Catalog. This accessory was fully designed by a Roblox user on Twitter where they asked Roblox to create the accessory[36]. Three days later it was added to the catalog.
  • June 3 – The Catalog experiences technical problems and faces glitches. Many users report only clothing appearing on the catalog and Group stores flooded with non-group clothing. Packages in Roblox Studio receive an update.[37]
  • June ? – The automatic Counter message for trading is removed. It was replaced with the automatic new trade request.
  • June 3 – The View feature (Inspect Menu) is added for everyone, allowing players to see what Catalog items people are wearing in-game.[38]
  • June 6 –
    • The limited tag is added back on to items (e.g collectible and items wearing on profile)
    • The Catalog experiences the technical problems as it did on June 3, although this time only Group stores were affected.
  • June 11 – Welcome to Bloxburg becomes the first pay to play game to reach 1 billion total place visits.
  • June 15 – Adopt Me! breaks the concurrent players record, peaking at 439,957 players at one time.[39]
  • June 17 – Legacy lighting is removed, any game using Legacy lighting will now run on Compatibility lighting.[40]
  • June 20 –
  • June 21 – Midnight Sale 2019 begins.
  • June 24 –
    • The Emote menu is added, as well as a new catalog emote sort and three new emotes: Tilt, Salute, and Stadium. It was then disabled an hour later due to complaints from developers.[42]
    • The second version of the ForceField material is released.[43]
  • June 25 – Rectangle Advertisements on the Games page and game search page are removed.[44]
  • June 26 – The logo for the Roblox Player on all devices are changed to grey or a gradient grey-to-white.
  • June 27 – Roblox Studio's terrain editor receives a Smooth Terrain Heightmap/Colormap importer.[45] This allows for a quick and better way to create a large amount of terrain at once.

July 2019

  • July 1 – Stranger Things 3 event officially launches.
  • July 10 – Packages phase 2 goes live.[46] Also, a glitch results in players with fully numeric names (eg. 61352151511) not being able to log in.[47]
  • July 11 – The ExplorerImageIndex 105NoCollisionConstraint is released.
  • July 12 – Asset archiving goes live, allowing developers to put a warning on their assets saying they will soon go unavailable. Four weeks later, these assets and any assets archived from then will be hidden from the website and unavailable in games.[48]. The Roblox message icon is also updated.
  • July 17 – Liverpool FC event starts.
  • July 18 – Stranger Things 3 event ends.
  • July 20 – Pokémon Brick Bronze returns to the front page after over a year in a new style, theme and name "Loomian Legacy", and the game pass configure page is updated.
  • July 21 – More languages are added to the Roblox website, such as: Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Russian, Danish, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Suomian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Nederlandian, Hungarian.
  • July 22 –
    • The ability to offset the position of a texture is implemented.[49]
    • An unannounced "Alias" feature was released to players allowing them to set a 20-character alias for their friends. It is only shown to the player creating the alias.
  • July 25 – Roblox updates their dark theme adding shading to the catalog and removing some out boxes.
  • July 26 – Liverpool FC event ends, and minor changes are done to the Create page such as a "More Games" button and made a bit more modern.
  • July 28 – The Shop section in the sidebar is renamed to Merchandise, and the catalog is renamed to shop. (This only affected newly signed up accounts, however.)
  • July 30 – Configuring on Models, Decals, Images, Audio, Meshes, Animations and Solidmodels are updated briefly to the new site layout, this is quickly reverted for an unknown reason.

August 2019

  • August 1 – The bit32 library from Lua 5.2 is added.[50]
  • August 2 – It is announced on the Roblox blog that 100 million users play Roblox monthly.[51]
  • August 5 – The Emote menu is re-enabled, but removed shortly after for unknown reasons.
  • August 6 – Localized Game icons are implemented to allow a game's icon to appear in a different language[52], And the configure pages on Models, Decals, Images, Audio, Meshes, Animations and Solidmodels are once again updated this time permanently.
  • August 7 – The font on the Robux purchase screen is made a lot bolder.
  • August 8 – Roblox announces that Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista devices will no longer be supported by the end of August.[53] Also, some Roblox employees's memberships, such as Merely, Seranok, and meow_pizza, are changed from OBC to Premium for testing purposes.
  • August 9 – RDC 2019 begins.[54]
  • August 10 – Premium is confirmed to be replacing BC, after all BC endpoints are nullified (for example, BC Overlay endpoint now returns "empty.png", and on this API 'IsPremium' returns 'true' for BC members.)
  • August 12 - Roblox goes under maintenance for about an hour around 5PM EST.[55] This may be the Roblox system having massive traffic for unknown reasons.
  • August 13 – Roblox goes down, twice in a row. Similar errors to those on August 12 are appearing.[56]

    • Loading animations are added to Catalog images.
    • The Search bar is changed slightly for users in Dark Theme, while the light theme is changed, removing most of the website's color. 
    • Models and other assets can be configured in studio.

    • The results counter on the catalog is discontinued.
    • Roblox removes the ability to set Builders Club-only groups.
    • Roblox staff confirm the testing of Roblox Premium.[59]
  • August 17 – MeepCity reaches 4 billion visits.
  • August 20
    • Some players have loading issues and are unable to play games.
    • 3 brand new emotes came out: Shrug, Point2 and Hello.
    • A new catalog subcategory "Emotes" is released in the "Avatar Animations" category.
  • August 23 –
    • Roblox extends Live Ops submissions to February 2020.[60]
    • Roblox releases additional language support to 45 total languages.[61]

    • NFL (2019) event begins.
    • Roblox adds to and improves plugins, such as being able to publish a plugin on a group.[62]
    • Developers can now see the contributions that a translator has made to their game.[63]

September 2019

  • September 2 – The Labor Day 2019 sale ends.
  • September 3 – Monthly Game Stats are temporarily unavailable for developers to view.[66]
  • September 5 –
    • The first of many problematic loading issues in September kick in on this date. At around 11:40-11:50 PM EST, most games on the site with active servers unexpectedly shut down for an unknown reason, also preventing all users attempting to join a game. The whole site was under maintenance, and the site came back up about 15 minutes later. 
    • Roblox also releases support for trackpad gestures on laptops.[67]
  • September 9 –
    • RB Battles event begins.
    • Many players were moderated for posting trade links on the official "Trade" group for "Scamming".  Youtuber KonekoKitten explains the moderation incident here.
  • September 12 – The Mid-Summer Horns finally sell out after being priced over a year prior.
  • September 13 –
  • September 14 - Roblox experiences problematic loading issues once again.
  • Mid-September – Roblox's CAPTCHA background is turned gray, possibly to add more security to prevent new bot accounts from being created. This caused some backlash from the community, as many users could not complete the CAPTCHA due to the background being too dark.
  • September 16 –
    • It is announced that Roblox Studio support for Mac OS X 10.9 users will end.[69]
    • A minor issue with Roblox's image moderation queue arises.[70]
    • The DevHub undergoes maintenance at 9PM PST.[71]
    • NFL (2019)  event ends.
    • Roblox updates all skateboards to be no longer purchasable.
  • September 17 - More glare was added to a new user's avatar for an unknown reason. As of September 27, 2019, the glare is on most user's avatars now.
  • September 18 –

    • Roblox users are unable to join games or log in from 1:24 PM EST, getting an error message during the period. Players currently in games around this time would not be kicked out of the game and would remain in-game.[73]
    • Later, the home page would have issues loading and profiles would take a long time to load, and player animations also broke. For an unexplained reason, all favorites on every place were reset to 0. Along with this, Roblox Studio began showing errors when players attempted to load games. Discussion regarding this began on social media platforms such as Reddit and Twitter. The issue was fixed at 11:49 PM EST, 10 hours and 25 minutes after being reported.
  • September 23 –
    • Premium is slowly rolled out worldwide, signaling the end of Builders Club. [74][75]
    • The Roblox website gets a redesign.
  • September 25 –
    • The settings in Roblox Studio receive a search filter.[76]
    • Premium is localized for users in the United States[77]
  • September 26 –
    • RbxThumb is added as ContentID format.[78]
    • Dark Theme is supported on the mobile app.[79]
  • September 27 –
    • Roblox Staff identify a major bootstrapping issue relating to the MacOS version of Roblox Studio.[80]
    • Roblox goes down at 5:15 PM EST. Studio cannot be opened, the website is slow, and API endpoints are down.[81] Issues are resolved about an hour later (6:09 PM EST).
    • UGC creators are given permission to upload hair accessories.

October 2019

    • The animation editor in Roblox Studio receives a more user-friendly UI and allows for a better experience rigging characters.[83]
    • Player list is made wider for the Premium logo.

    • Legacy controls for mobile devices are removed in favor of the "Dynamic Thumbstick".[84]
    • Jailbreak reaches 3 billion visits.
  • October 8
  • October 11 or 12 – The Roblox logo on the loading menu that appears when the "play game" button is clicked on the website is changed to white or black.
  • October 15
  • October 16 – ExplorerImageIndex 65Terrain receives a cylindrical brush and a flatten modifier. The UI for the Terrain menu is also modernized.[86] 
  • - All users are now able to use Roblox Premium.
  • October 17
    • Roblox's CEO David Baszucki is given the '100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2019' award from Goldman Sachs.[87]
    • DevEx tier limits are removed, allowing developers to devex at any Robux amount greater than 100,000, rather than set tiers. Additionally, many devex questions are removed, now only requiring name, email, and password verification.[88]
    • The premium profile icon is moved from the right side of the player's username to the left.
  • October 18
    • The Translator Portal is implemented.[89]
    • Adopt Me! breaks the concurrent players record again, peaking at over 500,000 players at one time.
    • Roblox experiences issues due to the aforementioned player record.
  • October 21 – An announcement is released stating that on October 28, all ExplorerImageIndex 11Sounds in the default character model will be relocated to the root part, and sound server scripts will be removed in favor of 100% local sounds.
  • October 23 – Xbox players are no longer able to chat due to Xbox restrictions.[90]
  • October 25 – Tickets are removed from player purchase history.
    • They were instead replaced with Robux, even if the item was not purchased with Robux.

November 2019

  • November 1 –
  • November 2 – The welcome greeting seen on the Home page is removed.
  • November 5 – The Roblox mobile avatar editor receives a massive overhaul, and the Robux symbol rolls out to users via A/B testing.[91]

  • November 7-10 – Roblox experiences severe disconnecting issues, causing Roblox to go down for maintenance on November 7/8.[citation needed]
  • November 13  – It is announced on the DevForum that Developer Events (Live-Ops) will be put on hold on November 21, 2019 as the system gets reevaluated. [94]
  • November 19 – The Galactic Speedway Creator Challenge begins.
  • November 20 – Roblox replaces the previous Robux logo with a new one. [95]
  • November 21 – Developer Events (Live-Ops) are put on hold and the event itself ends.
  • November 29 – The Black Friday 2019 sale begins and famous Royale High player Lizzy_Winkle passes away at age 15.

December 2019

  • December 2 – The Black Friday 2019 sale ends.
  • December 3 – Players were unable to type in the chat as every word they type gets tagged for an unknown reason, most likely a Roblox defection. It got fixed half an hour later.
  • December 4 –
    • The "Catalog" button is renamed to "Avatar Shop". "Shop" also gets renamed, to "Merchandise" unknown reasons. The page itself is still displayed as "Catalog".
    • Approximately at 4:27 PM EST, the chat filter was experiencing issues.
  • December 5 – The sign-up page was changed. New users can pick one of eight avatars and customize it prior to adding a username, birth date and password. [96] As of January 6, 2020, this has not been rolled out to most people worldwide.
  • December 7 – The Amazon "Shop" button is changed to "Merchandise".
  • December 8 – Plugins can now be taken off-sale.
  • December 9 – Catalog layout has been changed to a more, cleaner version.
    • Catalog layout has been reverted back to the old one.
  • December 11 – A new reskin of the player list is introduced, but is reverted a couple hours later due to a wave of criticism.[97]
  • December 12
    • The "Configure Group" menu is released to beta users. This menu will eventually replace "Group Admin".[98]
    • The update for the player list was reverted to the old one in order to address concerns brought up by the DevForum community.[99]
  • December 14
    • A power outage occurs at 2:30 PM GMT, causing many issues on the site, like the main Roblox website failing to load, being unable to sign in, and the Avatar page being generally broken.
    • For the third time, Adopt Me! breaks another concurrent players record, peaking with 640K concurrent players.[100]
    • Star Program Members are given access to the UGC.
    • Work at a Pizza Place reaches 2 billion visits.
    • Non-Premium users can now join up to 100 groups.
