Two step verification is an account security option that requires users to authenticate using email, a security key, or an authenticator app in order to log into Roblox. Accounts secured with two step verification will require more than just a username and password to log in.
Authenticator App[]
Authenticator apps, such as Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator, will provide temporary authentication codes (eg 123 456) that refresh frequently. When enabling two step verification via an authenticator app, a list of backup codes (like 1e3 4b6 7a9) that can be used in place of authenticator app codes can be saved in case access to the authenticator app is lost or Roblox in the app was accidentally deleted. To set one up, first remove email two step verification if applicable. Next, you need to confirm your email and Roblox password. Finally, scan the QR code, follow the prompts, and enter the provided code. Be sure to save backup codes in a secure location. This is a requirement for the verified badge
Email[]
With email verification enabled, an email will be sent containing the verification code (eg 123 456) when logging in. To set one up, first click your email and Roblox password. Next, follow all prompts. It is a good idea to get backup codes (eg 1e3 4b6 7a9) in event your email is unavailable. Email verification is not recommended over other two step verification options, but is better than nothing at all.
Security Key[]
Security keys are either physical or virtual keys that can be used as a second verification method. Physical keys need to be plugged into the device that is logging in. Digital keys, which often utilize biometrics like fingerprints or facial recognition, vary by device and platform. This is only compatible with iPhone, iPad, Mac and PC. It is a good idea to have a backup security key in case you lose one. To set one up you need to have a key and check your email and Roblox password.
Passkey[]
A passkey allows you to access your account using a fingerprint, face, eyes or screen lock. You just have to make sure one is registered on your account. If a passkey is registered you can log in easily just hit the passkey button then get the device where a passkey is registered and scan the QR code if necessary and follow prompts once done you are already logged in to that account. A passkey is supported on the latest iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, Windows and Android versions.
Two-Step Verification safety risks[]
Two-Step Verification is a good idea but some 2FA options are better than others so email is the least secure and Passkeys are the most secure.
