Roblox Wiki

Hi editors!

A lot of us are familiar with groups; however, did you know that the Roblox Wiki has a template specifically for linking to groups? That's right, give the Group link template a warm welcome!

It's been around for a while, although it's been lurking in the shadows relatively unused, until now! It's a very simple template but is bound to save some time.

{{Group link|<group name>|<group id>}}

This template will generate a link to the group on the Roblox website. However, it is also able to detect if the group is documented on the Roblox Wiki, and link there instead! It will even show the verified status of a documented group.

For example, take Badimo, the group behind Jailbreak. Using the group, we get the below code.

{{Group link|Badimo|3059674}}

Which creates the following link: Badimo Roblox Verified Badge

Likewise, take my own personal group, Triple Dice Productions. This group is not notable and as such is not documented on the wiki. However, we can still link to its Roblox page using this template.

{{Group link|Triple Dice Productions|2549335}}

Which creates the following link: Triple Dice Productions

There are multiple benefits to using this template over a generic internal/external link:

  • The template will select whether to use an internal or external link automatically.
  • If the page gets created/deleted, the template will adjust the link accordingly, without requiring any modification to the page.
  • The verified icon is added automatically to the end of the link if the group is documented and verified.
  • The name and ID pair are stored in the Roblox Wiki's internal database, which allows other templates (such as Infobox experience, which now uses this database for group experiences) to automatically generate group links.

Overall this is a really simple yet powerful template. Hope you learned something new, and thanks for editing on the Roblox Wiki!
